ReCap Pro: reality capture for surveys, refurbishment and as-built modelling
Autodesk ReCap Pro is the reality-capture application UK surveyors, refurbishment architects and BIM teams use to register laser scans, clean point clouds and produce RCP/RCS files that load directly into Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Navisworks. The Pro licence adds scan registration, measurement and annotation tools, and cloud photo-to-3D processing to the free viewer.

What ReCap Pro does
- Scan registration: automatic and manual registration of terrestrial laser scans from Leica, Faro, Trimble and other scanners.
- Point cloud clean-up: clip, segment, decimate and colourise scans before export.
- Photo to 3D: ReCap Photo turns drone and DSLR photographs into textured meshes and orthophotos using cloud credits.
- Measurement and annotation: distances, areas and tags for survey deliverables.
- Autodesk integration: RCP/RCS files open natively in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks and InfraWorks.
Who buys ReCap Pro
Land and building surveyors, heritage and refurbishment practices, MEP contractors surveying plant rooms, and drone operators producing site models. Because most ReCap users also need Revit or Civil 3D, the AEC Collection, which includes ReCap Pro, is often better value.
Choosing your release year
ReCap Pro is Windows-only. Choose a release year from 2024 to 2027; point cloud files remain compatible across releases, so the newest release is usually the right pick.

Compatibility and system requirements
ReCap Pro 2026/2027 requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a multi-core processor, 16 GB of RAM (32 GB recommended for large scan projects), a DirectX 11 graphics card with 4 GB or more and fast SSD storage for scan data.
An Autodesk account and internet connection are required; ReCap Photo processing runs in Autodesk’s cloud.
