Payment Policy
You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Payments are handled by Stripe, so your full card number never reaches our website.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Your licence is sent by email as soon as the payment clears.
1. How you can pay
The checkout page is always the final word on what is available to you, but these are the methods we offer:
| Method | How it works | When your order is released |
|---|---|---|
| Card Visa, Mastercard, American Express |
Entered on our checkout and processed by Stripe | Immediately after the payment is authorised |
| Apple Pay | Confirmed with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode | Immediately after the payment is authorised |
| Google Pay | Confirmed through your Google account | Immediately after the payment is authorised |
| Link | Stripe’s saved-details service, if you have used it before | Immediately after the payment is authorised |
If we add or remove a method, it will change on the checkout page first and this policy will follow.
2. How your payment is protected
- The whole site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- Card details are captured inside a Stripe field and sent straight to Stripe. AutoSoftKey never receives, sees or stores your full card number or security code.
- Stripe is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest level in the card industry.
- Card payments in the UK and EU go through 3-D Secure strong customer authentication where your bank requires it, which is the extra step your bank asks you to confirm.
3. Currency, tax and bank charges
Prices are displayed and charged in pounds sterling (GBP). The total you see before you confirm is the total we charge, including any tax that applies to your order.
If your card is issued outside the United Kingdom, your own bank may add a currency conversion or international transaction fee. That charge comes from your bank, not from us, and we have no control over it.
4. Order and fraud checks
Most orders are released automatically within seconds. A small number are held briefly for fraud checks, and we may email you to confirm a detail before we release the licence. We do this to protect you and us, and we work through it as quickly as we can.
An authorisation showing on your bank statement is not always a completed payment. If an order is not accepted, any authorisation is released back to your bank.
5. Failed, duplicate or reversed payments
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Payment declined | Check the card details and billing postcode, then try again. If it declines a second time, contact your bank — declines are decided by them, not by us. |
| You think you were charged twice | Do not place another order. Email us with both references and we will check and refund any duplicate. |
| Money left your account but you got no email | Check your spam folder first, then contact us with your name and the amount. We will find the order. |
| You want to dispute a charge | Please contact us before raising a chargeback. A chargeback freezes the payment with your bank and makes it much slower for us to put things right. |
6. Receipts and invoices
An order confirmation and receipt are emailed to you automatically. If you need a proper VAT-style invoice with your company name and address, email us your order number and billing details and we will issue one.
