Revit: one BIM model for architecture, structure and MEP
Revit is the building information modelling application at the centre of most UK BIM Level 2 workflows. Instead of drawing lines, you model walls, floors, ducts and steel members as intelligent objects, and every plan, section, schedule and quantity is generated from that single model. A Revit licence from AutoSoftKey gives you the full multi-discipline application — Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP are one product — on a 3-year term.
Revit is Windows-only. Mac users run it through Boot Camp-style Windows installations or virtualisation, which Autodesk does not officially support.

Choosing your release year
Revit files are not backwards compatible: a model saved in Revit 2026 cannot be opened in 2025. Match the release year to the projects you will join — many UK practices standardise on the release that was current when a project started. If you are starting fresh, choose the newest release your hardware supports.

Compatibility and system requirements
Revit 2026/2027 requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Autodesk recommends 16 GB of RAM for typical models and 32 GB for large, linked projects, a multi-core processor and a DirectX 11-capable graphics card with at least 4 GB of dedicated memory. Allow 30 GB of disk space for the application and UK content libraries.
An Autodesk account and internet connection are required for download and sign-in.

Does this include Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP?
Yes. Since Revit 2013 the disciplines have been one application; there is no separate Architecture or MEP product.
Is Revit LT the same thing?
No. Revit LT is a cut-down edition without worksharing, MEP or advanced rendering. This page is for full Revit.
Does Revit run on a Mac?
Not natively. Autodesk supports Revit on Windows only; some users run it under Windows on Apple hardware, which Autodesk does not support.
Will I get UK templates and families?
Autodesk provides UK-specific content when you install the English (UK) language pack and content libraries; guidance is included in your setup email.
Can I open a Revit 2027 model in Revit 2026?
No. Revit does not open files from newer releases, so choose the release year your projects use.
