Fusion 360: CAD, CAM and simulation in one licence, for Windows and Mac
Autodesk Fusion — still searched for as Fusion 360 — is the application that lets a small UK workshop, product studio or engineering consultancy design, simulate, machine and document a part without juggling three separate packages. Parametric and freeform modelling, sheet metal, generative design, integrated 2.5- to 5-axis CAM, electronics and PCB layout, and cloud-based collaboration all sit in one interface.
This 3-year licence is the commercial licence: unlike the free personal-use version, it has no restrictions on commercial work, active documents, export formats or the rapid-machining and simulation features.
What the full licence unlocks
- Design: parametric, direct, surface, mesh and T-spline modelling, plus sheet metal and generative design studies.
- Manufacture: integrated CAM for milling, turning, profiling and additive, with post-processors for common UK machine tools.

Who buys Fusion rather than Inventor
Makers turning a hobby into a business, CNC shops, jewellery and product designers, and start-ups that want one subscription covering design and machining. The Mac support also makes Fusion the only Autodesk mechanical CAD option for macOS users.
Large assemblies, complex shop drawings and Vault-based data management remain stronger in Autodesk Inventor; teams that need both can look at the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection.

Compatibility and system requirements
Fusion runs on 64-bit Windows 10/11 and on macOS versions Autodesk currently supports, including Apple silicon. Autodesk recommends 8 GB of RAM as a minimum, 16 GB for larger models, a dedicated GPU with 4 GB and a reliable internet connection, because Fusion stores and syncs designs in the cloud.
An Autodesk account is required to sign in and use the application.

How much does Fusion 360 cost for commercial use in the UK?

Is Fusion 360 still free for personal use?
Autodesk still offers a limited personal-use licence for non-commercial hobby projects. It restricts active documents, exports and advanced tools, and cannot be used for paid work — which is where this commercial licence comes in.
Does the licence include the Machining, Simulation or Generative Design Extensions?
Fusion includes core CAM and simulation. Autodesk sells certain advanced extensions separately on top of any Fusion licence; check Autodesk’s extension list if you rely on a specific feature.
Does Fusion work offline?
Fusion needs an internet connection to sign in and sync, but it can work offline for a limited period and syncs when you reconnect.
Can I use one licence on my PC and my Mac?
Autodesk allows a named user to install on more than one machine with a single active session at a time.
