Navisworks Manage: coordination, clash detection and 4D planning
Navisworks Manage is the BIM coordination application UK main contractors, MEP subcontractors and BIM coordinators use to bring architectural, structural, services and civil models together, find clashes before they reach site, and link the federated model to the construction programme. It reads more than sixty file formats, so a Revit model, a Tekla steel model and a Civil 3D drainage design can be reviewed as one.
Manage is the full edition. Navisworks Simulate lacks the Clash Detective module, and the free Navisworks Freedom viewer only opens NWD files — if clash detection is part of your job, Manage is the one you need.
What Navisworks Manage does
- Model aggregation: append RVT, DWG, IFC, NWC, SKP, DGN and point-cloud data into a single lightweight NWF/NWD model.
- Clash Detective: hard, soft and clearance tests between disciplines, grouped, assigned and tracked to resolution.
- TimeLiner 4D: link model elements to Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject or Primavera programmes to simulate construction sequences.
- Quantification: 2D and 3D take-off for 5D cost planning.
- Review and issue: redlines, viewpoints, animations and BIM 360/ACC issue exchange for coordination meetings.
Who buys Navisworks Manage
BIM managers and coordinators, design managers at contractors, MEP coordinators and planners producing 4D sequences for tender presentations. Practices that already need Revit and Civil 3D usually buy the AEC Collection, which includes Navisworks Manage.
Choosing your release year
Navisworks is Windows-only. Choose a release year from 2024 to 2027; the NWC exporter for Revit and AutoCAD must match or be newer than the authoring application’s release, so align with the Revit release your project uses.

Navisworks Manage 2026/2027 requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a multi-core processor, 16 GB of RAM (more for large federated models), a DirectX 11-capable graphics card and around 15 GB of disk space.
An Autodesk account and internet connection are required for download and validation.
