Description

Pre-owned digital licence. Supplied as a lawfully transferred licence that has been retired by its previous holder, with order documentation and activation guidance. It does not expire and there is no renewal fee. How pre-owned licences work · Why pre-owned software licences cost less.

Support status — please read before ordering

Windows 10 reached the end of Microsoft’s standard support on 14 October 2025. It no longer receives routine security updates or technical support unless a device is enrolled in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates scheme. For any machine used for email, online banking, shopping or personal documents, a supported operating system is the safer choice, and Windows 11 Home is the direct replacement where the hardware allows.

Where it does not, AutoSoftKey supplies a Windows 10 Home licence key as a pre-owned digital licence — product key, order documentation and activation guidance by email — so a rebuilt family PC or a machine kept for older software can be activated properly.

What you get with Windows 10 Home

  • The Windows 10 desktop: Start menu, taskbar, Microsoft Store and the bundled applications.
  • Windows Security: antivirus and firewall cover, though update policy for the platform is now set by Microsoft’s ESU programme.
  • Broad compatibility: runs on hardware that Windows 11 rejects, and with peripherals whose drivers stopped at Windows 10.
  • Perpetual licence: no subscription and no renewal.

When Windows 10 Home is still the right answer

Hardware is usually the reason. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, and a large number of otherwise healthy laptops and desktops simply do not have them. A rebuilt family PC, a machine kept for a specific piece of older software or a computer that never goes online are situations where this edition still makes sense.

Home does not include BitLocker, cannot join a company domain and cannot host a Remote Desktop connection; Windows 10 Pro covers those. Sensible precautions apply: keep third-party security software current, limit what the machine is used for and plan its replacement.

Windows 10 Home licence FAQs

Is Windows 10 Home still supported?

No. Standard support ended on 14 October 2025. Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates are a separate, time-limited arrangement not included with this licence.

Will the key still activate?

Yes. Activation is unaffected by the end of support.

Can I upgrade to Windows 11 Home for free?

If the PC meets the Windows 11 requirements, Microsoft offers the upgrade at no cost and the licence carries over.

Windows 10 Home or Pro?

Home covers personal use; Pro adds BitLocker, domain join and Remote Desktop hosting. Both are unsupported by Microsoft since October 2025, so choose Windows 11 where the hardware allows.
